Plan Your Homeschool Year at the Little Library

Every year, I face the same quandary. I choose a Charlotte Mason curriculum and vow to follow it without veering from the path. “Think how much time and energy I’ll save,” I counsel myself. “I can relax by the pool all summer instead of wrestling with agonizing book choices.”

As August approaches, I sit down with my carefully-chosen curriculum. Things look fine except, well, maybe one book on the list doesn’t quite sit right with me. “Don’t I have a book somewhere that I looked forward to reading with the girls when we got to this topic?” I muse, scuttling off for a look at my library shelves. Just removing that one book from the curriculum’s list sends the whole Jenga tower toppling. I find myself gleefully yanking books from the shelf as our prospective school year glows with possibilities. Oh, the books we can read!

If you, like me, actually revel in agonizing book choices, why not come to the Little Library where you can plan a school year to your heart’s content?

You’ll find books on the shelves to help you…

  1. Prepare Your Heart

Before I get too carried away with planning, I like to read a book that anchors me in the One who is the “sure foundation of [our] times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge,” (Isaiah 33:6). If you, too, feel the need for stability in your frazzled days, you’ll find treasures on our shelves.

2. Ponder Your Philosophy

While choosing books I love, I also work hard at enriching my understanding of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, grounding my curricular decisions in something deeper than my own whims. You’ll find plenty to ponder in these gems:

3. Peruse the Possibilities

And now the fun begins! If you can’t find just the book you want on our shelves, we have lists upon lists of living books for history, geography, literature, and more.

Happy planning, and remember, our shelves are too full to settle for a boring book!

  1. Thanks for the inspiration! I should form some type of philosophy for our education, I suppose. I do just try to get through and hope for the best 🙂
